Even though it’s been more than 6 months since their disbandment, I wanted to write about my favorite (or most played) songs by the pillows and my memories with them since September is a special month. It’s the pillows anniversary month!

The first song I’m sharing is my most played pillows song (according to my phone). Ladybird Girl was released as a single on August 15th, 2007 when I was studying in Japan. It was the first pillows single I purchased in person. It was also one of the songs played on the Lostman tour in 2023-2024. I was learning this song on bass in 2024 because it sounded similar to the Smash Mouth song Your Man (I’m pretty sure the band pulled some inspiration from it, as several other pillows songs sound similar to Smash Mouth songs - yes, the Shrek song band lol). I had the sheet music so I thought I could apply the same bassline to Your Man but actually it’s a bit different.

Ladybird Girl was also used as one of the songs in the Japanese version of Ben Ten and parodied as a chapter page in the first issue of the Bocchi the Rock! manga. It ended up on the pillows 2008 Album Pied Piper (which I was also able to buy in a music store in Japan!).

I’ll make more blog posts later! I’m not sure if anyone reads blogs but I thought it would be fun to write some things that aren’t related to work. It probably won’t just be a pillows trivia blog but I hope if you don’t read this, you can just listen to the song lol
